Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Do you charge VAT or does your price include it?

No, we do not charge VAT with our prices. All our quotes are as provided.

Do you charge a call out fee?

No, we do not charge a call out fee. We charge an hourly rate for the first hour – if it is repairable within that time and no materials or parts are required, that is all you will pay.

What are your credentials?

We are Gas Safe registered and Part P Electrical certified. For further information, please click here to visit the NICEIC website to find out more.

What is a power flush?

A power flush is the process where a low pressure but high water flow pump is connected to the central heating system, and pumps water through at a high velocity. With the combination of the necessary chemicals, this will break up and dislodge any material, limescale or black sludge build up and will leave your system working at peak efficiency.

Do you offer a free diagnosis for boiler faults?

Unfortunately we can’t work for free. If you request a visit to a boiler fault we will charge an hourly rate for the first hour – if it is repairable within that time and no materials or parts are required, that is all you will pay.

I’ve got a water leak – what should I do?

Try to minimise the risk of damage to your property as much as possible. It is advisable to turn off your main water supply at the stopcock, and then contact us to arrange a quick and fast repair of the leak.

My boiler pressure is too high, what shall I do?

You can bleed any radiator in your house from the bleeding valve on the side of the radiator but opening the valve slightly until the pressure has dropped to 1.5bar. Make sure you have a towel and pot in hand before bleeding the radiator!

Should I install a magnetic filter on my system?

We recommend the magnetic filter, which is a small magnetic unit that traps any dirt, debris and sludge that’s created before it can do any damage to your boiler and controls. The filter will be cleaned at your annual boiler service.

Most manufacturers now require magnetic filters to be fitted for warranty purposes.

I can smell gas/the carbon monoxide detector was set off

You should call National Grid on 0800 111 999. This is a free, national emergency line. They will dispatch an engineer (free of charge) who will make the property safe. They will usually disable the gas supply temporarily until the required repairs can be carried out by a company like ourselves. You can then call us to arrange a visitation to have the repairs carried out and complete multiple tests to ensure the property is safe. We can then restore the gas supply at the property. Only gas safe, qualified engineers should attend.

– Attempt to disable the gas from the meter.

– Open all your windows & doors at the property to allow ventilation.

– Do not operate or switch on/off any electrical items.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, card payments, and bank transfers. We will also be resuming our finance offer soon which will be provided through our finance provider in the near future.
